Internet Safety among top ten children’s health concerns

Internet safety is now of greater concern to parents than school violence, sexually transmitted diseases and abuse according to survey results in March 2007 from the University of Michigan’s Child Health Evaluation and Research unit. Their research, found that 26 percent of U.S. parents consider Internet safety to be a big problem. Income and education levels did not appear to influence the level of concern, but there was a significant gap between the attitudes of men and women: 32 percent of women consider Internet safety for children to be a big issue, compared to 21 percent of men.
